A Little Bit of History

When we generally hear the word “vinegar,” we tend to think of it as just another food condiment. We use it in salads and other foods, but we never really think more of its uses beyond that.

However, the opposite is really true. Vinegar has always been valued as food medicine.

Since 400 BCE, vinegar was first used by Hippocrates, the famed “Father of Medicine.” He used this liquid to treat wounds.

In the 1700s, physicians used vinegar to treat various conditions such as severe coughs, stomach aches, and poison ivy.

Apple Cider Vinegar vs Regular Vinegar

Vinegar contains numerous natural ingredients that can have a very positive effect on your body’s functioning. These include acetic acid and catechin that have tons of antioxidant, anti-microbial, and antibacterial properties.Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits

Apple cider vinegar however contains a higher mineral and vitamin content than other vinegars. Although disputed, some say that it contains more potassium than other vinegars.

Also, most vinegar manufacturers remove the “mother” part of vinegar. This is the cloudy, yolky part of the vinegar is filled with amino acids that provide the bulk of the health benefits found in vinegar.

Most apple cider vinegars however do contain this important part of the vinegar, although even so, there are some products that take it out as well.

Because of this and other differences, apple cider vinegar can provide better health benefits than regular vinegar.

Common Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits

Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar BenefitsBeing of a better natural quality than other vinegars, apple cider vinegar has been found to be useful for a wide variety of health and beauty benefits.

Here are some of the most common uses of this wonderful cider:

Blood Sugar/Diabetes

Apple cider vinegar is well known for its ability to maintain blood sugar levels.

It is a bit unclear how exactly it balances blood sugar levels. One opinion says that the acetic acid in the vinegar lowers blood sugar by limiting the digestion of carbs. Another view says that ACV does this by inactivating the digestive enzymes that cause the carbs to convert into sugar.

Either way, there are studies demonstrating that the vinegar can balance blood sugar levels and keep diabetes at bay.

To some of these studies, click here and here.

This vinegar is highly capable of preventing cardiovascular diseases, since it contains massive amounts of polyphenol acids. These acids work in your body to prevent the rise of dangerous forms of cholesterol, which can enhance the health of your heart.

And once again, there is research to back this fact up, such as from the Journal of Food Science. A simple Google Scholar search can show you several studies showing this benefit mostly based on the study of rats.

Losing Weight

A very famous benefit mentioned by some medical and natural medicine experts is the fact that apple cider vinegar can help you lose weight. The acids in the vinegar can cause a person to feel more full quicker and reduce the desire to eat more.

Of course, one should not rely on the vinegar alone to lose weight. Proper diet and exercise is equally vital in shedding those unwanted pounds.

Ironically, there are two studies that you can view here and here that show that apple cider vinegar can aid in weight loss, even while eating lots of carbs.

Nasal Congestion & Sore Throats

Similar to the way that xylitol nasal sprays work, apple cider vinegar contain antibacterial components that destroy the bad bacteria causing congestion in your nose.

This also explains why the vinegar works great to relieve sore throats, which works in the same way that Manuka honey relieves sore throats.

The acidic content as well as the pectin found in apple cider vinegar, can act as a natural probiotic to relieve digestive issues in the gut. This also makes it a great remedy for acid reflux, which occurs when your stomach has very little amounts of acids to break down food and nutrients.

Other Uses of Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Warts.
  • Sunburns.
  • Energy boosts.
  • Bug bites.
  • Poison ivy.
  • Skin irritations of all kinds.
  • Hiccups.
  • Acne.
  • Cramps.
  • Bad breath.
  • Dandruff.
  • Foot odor.
  • and more!

Which ACV Product Should You Choose?

Now that we’ve seen how useful apple cider vinegar is for our well being, it’s important to find the best quality vinegar that we can get our hands on.

There are loads of apple cider vinegar products out there today and it’s important to recognize that not all vinegars are equal.Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits

Some of the ciders out there aren’t as unfiltered and in raw form. This can eliminate a lot of the potential benefits out of your vinegar.

This is why I love Bragg’s Raw Apple Cider Vinegar.

Created by the Bragg family, the American pioneers of the natural health and nutrition industry in the United States, it is one of the tastiest and most unadulterated cider vinegars out there in the market.

It’s no accident that it is the #1 best selling vinegar on Amazon and it has more incredible reviews than any other apple cider vinegar bottle.

Here’s why…

Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits

Bragg’s vinegar is very superior to other vinegars in many aspects.

It is one of the few raw vinegars that is completely unfiltered and naturally pure from beginning process up to the very end. All of the apples used to make the vinegar are organically grown and the entire process of making the vinegar including its bottle production is certified organic by the USDA and Oregon Tilth.

It contain the healthy “mother” part of the vinegar that I mentioned earlier, and it is unpasteurized. The only ingredients in the entire package is the cider itself as well as purified water.Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits

Here are some other key bonuses in Bragg’s that many others don’t have:

  • Kosher.
  • Naturally gluten-free.
  • Not genetically modified.
  • Does NOT need to be put in the fridge (most vinegars do).
  • Has a unique zesty taste to it.

Bragg’s product is so good that it has earned prestigious awards by different organizations. Whole Foods and Bon Appetite magazines named it as one of the best products out there. It was also named as one of the top 100 for prevention in the 2015 Cleanest Packaged Food Awards, and it is “Kid Kritics Approved.”

In case that wasn’t enough, Braggs is also highly recommended even by many health professionals.

See one such example below from Dr. Akiba Green (see 3:49 for his recommendation):

The only cons I was able to find was that it is a bit more expensive than other vinegars. Compared to the cheapest product I can find, Bragg’s cheapest package is about $1.50 more expensive than the cheaper ones.

This really isn’t such a big issue though since the difference is minimal, and Bragg is still a much better quality vinegar than the cheaper ones. In short, you pay for what you get.

Some have told me though that they didn’t like the taste of it. However these people also do not like the taste of any apple cider vinegar product.

After checking out reviews and asking ACV users around for their recommendation, almost all of them have recommended Bragg’s for its benefits and taste.

How To Use Bragg’s ACV The Right Way

Some people claim that you should consume an entire spoonful of apple cider vinegar at once. This is not correct since drinking the vinegar whole can be detrimental to your teeth enamel and it can bother your stomach greatly.

The best way to use it is to take a spoonful of the vinegar, mix it into a glass of water, and then drink  the water. That way, you don’t have any negative effects of the vinegar and you only get all of its benefits in the safest way possible.

For skin issues, you can pour some of it into a bath and bathe in the water mixed with the vinegar for relief. For warts, you can alternatively soak a cotton ball in the vinegar and bandage it on the wart.

To freshen bad breath, one can also gargle with it and then spit out the vinegar when finished.

My Experience!

I have had great experiences with Bragg’s apple cider vinegar.

I use it mainly for stomach issues and just as a great supplement. Every time my stomach gets gassy, I take a spoonful of the vinegar mixed in water and it almost immediately calms my stomach down.

I also put it in a lot of my foods, such as fish and especially salad. It is a very tasty dressing for any meal.

Most of my family also uses Bragg’s for its awesome taste and its insane health bonuses.

Additionally, thousands of Bragg users have noticed awesome benefits from just using the vinegar for a short period of time.

Here’s one lady who was able to lose 11 pounds in a 2 week period:

To wrap this post up, Bragg’s apple cider vinegar is by far the best apple cider vinegar product on the market today.

It tastes good, it is the best quality and healthiest vinegar you can find, and it’s definitely worth every penny. It contains all the benefits of apple cider vinegar and more.

No wonder why everyone raves about it!

  • I really enjoyed reading your post on Braggs Apple cider vinegar. Myself and my mother recently went to a 1 day course on digestion and how it affects your body. One of the main topics of the course was this braggs apple cider vinegar. So needless to say me and my mother are drinking it everyday (I’m even trying to get my husband to drink it). And it was the first time i have ever heard of the ‘mother’ on the apple cider vinegar. Good article

    • Thanks Jessica! And yea, the mother part is very unknown to most people, but it’s in fact the most important part of the vinegar. Gotta always look out for “mommy” 🙂
