Arnica Montana Homeopathic Remedy: What The M.D.’s Say
As of this date, my latest article described how the Arnica montana homeopathic remedy is a tremendous solution to be used for post and pre surgeries, as well as for general swelling, bruising, and for other types of rough, shocking injuries.
I also briefly discussed about its chronic uses for mental and emotional symptoms. But as for acute emergencies and surgeries, Arnica is unanimously the prime remedy to use when these situations arise.
Interestingly, most clinical homeopathic research is performed on Arnica, more than any other remedy. This is because Arnica is the most used acute remedy. First aid is always needed on a consistent basis.
There are a mix of results however. Like most (but not all) negative studies on homeopathy, almost all negative studies performed on Arnica were funded by pharmaceutical companies.
Just A Side Note…Watch For Bias!
Pharmaceutical companies recognize that homeopathy is gaining strength and popularity among the masses, since they are effective (when used correctly), they’re generally safe, and they are very inexpensive.
Therefore, they try to combat this rise is by funding bias studies aimed at delegitimizing homeopathy.
This aims to slow the growth and usage of homeopathy among people as well as even by doctors who actually support and at times recommend homeopathy (I personally can attest to doctors like this)
Nonetheless, there are many positive studies and reviews, even conducted by M.D.’s. These are the type of studies that I would like to show you today, both to supporters and skeptics of homeopathy.
Here are just some of the studies:
Researchers: Widrig R et al
Publication: Rheumatol Int.
Participants: Two groups of patients unknowingly chose either NSAID or Arnica for treatment of hand osteoarthritis in a randomized, double blind study.
Results: The Arnica worked just as effectively as the NSAID.

Researchers: Joanne B. Barnes Pharm., M.R.Pharm.S.; Karl-Ludwig Reisch M.D., Ph.D.; Edzard Ernst M.D., Ph.D., F.R.C.P.
Publication: Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology
Participants: The researchers conducted a meta-analysis on numerous varied studies performed on Arnica in various potencies for postoperative ileus.
Results: The review concluded that Arnica can indeed treat the after effects of postoperative Ileus, at all potencies and even better than a placebo
Researchers: Brook M. Seeley, MD; Andrew B. Denton, MD; Min S. Ahn, MD; Corey S. Maas, MD
Publication: Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery
Participants: In a double-blind and randomized study, 29 patients undergoing a facelift were randomly given either a placebo or Arnica 1M.
Results: The placebo group had 25% more bruising and it took placebo patients 50% longer for that bruising to heal than the high potency Arnica group taking Arnica 1M
