What Are Migraines?

A migraine is a primary headache disorder. This means that it is a headache that appears on its own and not caused by an external factor, such as medication side effects.

Migraines are most common between the ages of 35 and 40. Because of hormonal changes such as menopause, women tend to get them than more than men.homeopathic remedies for migraines

Migraines occur as a result of the combination of vasodilation and the release of chemicals in the nerve fibers that coil around the blood vessels.

This causes the temporal artery to enlarge.

When this happens, the temporal artery stretches the nerves that coil around the artery and causes the nerves to release chemicals, which then leads to inflammation, pain, and further enlargement of the artery.

The pain becomes more intense as the artery increases more in size.

10 Replies to “Looking For Homeopathic Remedies for Migraines?”

  1. I’ve always had migraines for the longest time. Usually I just take some aspirin or ibuprofen except that does little to nothing. I’ve looked up some home remedies before but never came across anything that works. I haven’t tried Gelsemium before, maybe i’ll give it a shot. If you had to say, which one do you prefer the best, Gelsemium, Onosmodium, or Kalibichromium?

    1. It all depends on the type of symptoms you have with your migraines. Ask yourself: what makes my migraines better or worse? How does the pain feel? Sensations? How do you emotionally feel when you have them? Questions like that.

If you’ve had them for a long time, then you might be better off seeing a homeopath, since the migraines might be more chronic than acute.

      Hope this helps!

  2. Wow, I had no idea there were so many types of headaches! I don’t tend to get headaches, but my friends and family all experience different symptoms, evidently they all have different types of headaches. Thank you for offering so many effective remedies. I’ll be sure to pass this information on to them the next time a headache strikes them.

  3. Hi ABaradarian. thank you for this website. I didn”t know there were different types of migraine and this is very informative. I have seldom migraine, if so it starts with a flickering in one eye and diminished sight and i take 2 painkillers and usually that helps. I prefer a homeopatic
remedy though. My daugher suffers frequently from migraine and Ii think your site will be very helpful. I put you on my timeline on Facebook so i can contact you for my daugher, thanks Marion

  4. I found this article very enlightening. I do get headaches usually a couple headaches per month. I thought they either were either sinus headaches or changes in barometric pressure headaches. Sometimes one of my headaches can last 2 or 3 days. The headache is usually my forehead and behind my eyes. Which remedy would you recommend?

  5. HI there

I often get really intense headaches starting as pain behind the eyes and then developing from there to really horrible sensitivity to sunlight. It is great that there are natural treatments other than taking nurofen (yet again) what do you recommend as a homeopathic treatment?

I tend to often call it quits and just lie down with the curtains drawn and have nurofen. Are there any preventative treatments?
