People say I do some crazy things, and maybe you’ll think this is one of them, but if you read my explanation, I think you’ll understand that my reasoning is actually very sound. In the first place, I really enjoy walking. It lifts my spirits and makes me feel good. I don’t care what the weather is like, either. I just dress appropriately, and I’m perfectly happy to walk the distance.

Reasons Walking Lifts My Spirits

I know that it’s good for me so that alone makes me feel as if I’m doing something special for myself. Knowing how great it is for my cardiovascular system, while helping me shed some excess fat, makes me think of the great potential I have to look even better than I do now. Sure, I could go to the stuffy gym, but this exercise is free and, in my opinion, just as good. The fresh air makes me feel alive and invigorated.

Besides just being free exercise, I know I can get some cheap car insurance if I put several fewer miles on my car. I’m saving money on gas, and my car will need fewer repairs. I’m just saving money all around. Who can argue that alone isn’t enough to lift anyone’s spirits? It makes me want to go out for a walk right now, but I’ll finish my explanation first.

Walking in the Sun

There’s nothing like a walk on a glorious, sunny Spring morning. With all the money I’m saving, I’ve already invested in a great pair of walking shoes. They have soft, foam insoles so I feel like I’m walking on air. Yesterday, I went shopping without the use of my car. A couple of hours later, after being in the air-conditioned stores, I was feeling a bit chilled. The warm air, walking home, and making my blood circulate brought my body right back to a comfortable temperature in fewer than five minutes. Had I used the car, I would have had to turn on the AC immediately because of how oppressively hot the interior would have been sitting there in the scorching sun for so long.

Walking in the Rain

I love wearing my fancy rain hat and waterproof jacket. If it’s raining hard, I just lift the hood over my hat, and I don’t get drenched. I have a great pair of water-resistant leather boots, too. I always feel so stylish walking in the rain.

I must say that driving in the rain is not one of my favorite things to do. It actually frightens me. So many car accidents happen in the rain. From the possibility of hydro-planing to poor visibility, just the thought of it makes me cringe. My own two feet are much more stable, and I don’t have to worry about other drivers losing control of their vehicles and hitting me, either.

At this point, if you don’t clearly understand why I prefer walking to using my car in many cases, there’s no convincing you that this isn’t just another one of my crazy ideas. I think you’re smart enough to understand my reasoning, though. In fact, now that you’ve read my explanation, I bet you’re going to want to do the same thing.
