Consume healthy foods

Whether you drink smoothies, eat salads every day or enjoy homemade popsicles made out of fruit, find ways to build up your body with healthy foods. Once you’ve completed a round of chemotherapy, you might not have an appetite for a while. In fact, your appetite might be completely abnormal. However, when it is time to eat, try your best to consume fresh fruits or vegetables in order to provide living nutrients to your body.

Use homeopathic/natural remedies

Many cancer patients have benefitted from introducing homeopathic remedies to their regimen. Hot and cold treatments can help when you’re feeling pain in certain parts of your body. If you tend to suffer from nausea, something as simple as carrying peppermint oil will help. If you take a whiff, it can help you manage the temptation to vomit.

Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation and surgery are very depleting. Most cancer patients spend a lot of time resting in order to allow their bodies to recover. It can also help increase circulation within the body.

When you’re looking for natural ways to take care of your body, don’t forget to consult with your physicians. You can also talk to professionals at a cancer center. They can provide options that won’t interfere with your current treatment regimen. They can also inform you of services that are available for you to take advantage of. Instead of signing up at the local gym for a yoga class, there might be a yoga class for cancer patients at the same facility where you get your treatments. Ask questions, and consult your physicians for their advice on helpful treatments to consider.

At the end of the day, you are your best advocate. When something doesn’t feel right, get a second, third or fourth opinion. Trust your instincts, and do what you have to do in order to feel safe. If the natural ways are fueling your body through this process, use them wisely. If they don’t make you feel better, do what will make you feel better. You’re already a warrior for fighting cancer. Don’t make it harder than it already is.
