Sepia Homeopathic Remedy: A Women’s Best Friend!

21.3.2016 | 16:36

Derived from the common cuttlefish, the Sepia homeopathic remedy is one of the top three homeopathic medicines for women, according to Morrison.

Cuttlefishes are known to have fast growth rates. As a result, they tend to rest a lot since their delays in resting greatly delay their growth periods.

The cuttlefish’s skin pigment results when they flex their muscles. When they change their skin color, this allows them to adapt to any environment and avoid predators.

They also known for avoiding conflicts and predators by squirting a black ink, which confuses their attackers and allows them to flee for safety.

Other unique features of the cuttlefish are that their eyes that are bigger than their bellies, and they also produce vast quantities of black grape-like eggs that leads to numerous offspring.

A Short Video Explaining the Sepia in Practice

This short video by homeopath Misha Norland offers a brief overview of the personality type of a patient needing Sepia as well as common symptoms that it can treat:

Remedy Affinities

Sepia has three main affinities for which it is known for. They are…

  • Female Reproductive Hormonal System
  • Menopause
  • Hormones

These and other major themes as well as detailed mind and physical symptoms will be discussed below.

The Basic Mindset of a Female Sepia

Women requiring Sepia tend to be bubbly and fun when they originally were overall healthy. However, once their hormones kick in via menstruation or pregnancy, then they tend to act the opposite. sepia homeopathic remedy

Thus, they may say that they have never felt better since pregnancy or the like.

This has a great effect upon the Sepia patient. She develops a bitterness that can manifest in numerous ways such as constant complaining. She will also want to blame everyone for her issues.

The root of this hormonally induced negative personality stems her feeling of being “stuck.” To her, the things in her life aren’t going the right way, and she cannot change it.

Everything in her life feels like it’s falling out of order, and there is no hope in fixing this.

This causes her to view herself in a negative light.

More specifically, she may feel that she has a loss of creativity, loss of femininity, and/or a delusion that she is mentally and emotionally trapped in some aspect of her life.

An expression many Sepias use as noted in clinical practice is that they “feel overworked.”

Simply put, she will not feel like the person that she used to be. She once was a doer, now she feels that she can’t do anything anymore.

In the office of the homeopath, she will certainly weep when telling over her symptoms.

Lack of Physical Energy

Despite their love for dancing, Sepias’ tend to have a loss of energy, which is a big complaint for them. As they start to get more exhausted, they will attempt put up more energy to continue to function.sepia homeopathic remedy

This may result from the above negativity reflected in the outlook of themselves as well as others.

Female With Lots of Male Energy

This is a big indiction for the need for Sepia in a woman. Sepias in general can run on feminine sepia homeopathic remedyenergy embodied in a man or vice versa.

The Sepia archetype may be a career woman with male identity leanings. According to Kent, she may even look more masculine than feminine in looks.

She can have an overdeveloped masculineness, which can lead her to become bitter, irritable, and controlling.

Again, this stems from the inner feeling of shame or inner hurting that she has internally.

This can lead to multiple expressions of male/female imbalances, such as delayed child bearing. She may even have an aversion to children.

Additionally, she will have a strong sense of responsibility.

In many materia medicas, Sepia is considered to be the “sister,” or female version of Nux Vomica.

Overload & Disconnection

As mentioned earlier, Sepia women may feel dragged down from the burdens and demands of life.

They will feel that everything is too much for them, yet they will still try to disguise their inner vulnerability. They will truly feel that they are poor or unfortunate.

When all kinds of these demands are coming at her, this can lead her to a metaphoric black cloud; she can become moody, spiteful, negative, and overwhelmed,

She may even hate her family, and she will have an urge to drive them away in order to find her own peace. She will want to cut them off from her life. As a result, she will act indifferent to her loved ones.

Delusions

She may have a delusion that her family will starve.

She also may be deluded in thinking that her brain is foggy, she is unfit for life, and/or she is unattractive.

Because of the above, she will feel a disconnection between herself and others, as well as between her present and past state of being.

Modalities

Sepia’s are worse in company yet they dread being alone. That being said, they also cannot stand any loud noises. Thunderstorms aren’t enjoyable for them.

They are also worse from thinking about past disagreeable occurrences in their lives.

They also have an aversion to exertion, although they can also be relieved by motion. They may even believe that physical exertion relieves the dullness in their mind.

There are two specific things that they feel better by:

  • Lying on the hard floor
  • Motion, which alleviates ALL physical symptoms.

Physical Female Issues

Sepias tend to feel worse at the onset of their periods. Their periods may either be scanty or profuse.

A big keynote in the Sepia remedy among women is the fact that they feel that they have a lump-like feeling in their rectum. sepia homeopathic remedy

They may also have a lack of sex. Their sexual drive will be minimal, if any, which may be a result of childbirth.

Alternatively, Sepias are prone to miscarriages in the 5th-7th month of pregnancy, when the weight of the fetus generally starts to bear down.

During their pregnancy, they will have more exhaustion than usual. This may be more prominent compared to other pregnant women.

Furthermore, they will also have a major sensitivity to hormonal imbalances. This can result in a loss of hair as well.

Other Prominent Physical Symptoms

  • They can’t stand to cook and can’t stand smell of food.
  • They have a desire for vinegar and pickles.
  • They may have saggy breasts.
  • They tend to be chilly, but can feel warm as well.
  • Green discharges can occur.
  • They may have a sensation that urine will come out, even without actual urination.
  • They can have a ravenous appetite.

Sepia Homeopathic Remedy for Men

Although rare, Sepia can also be given to men when certain characteristics stand out.

sepia homeopathic remedySepia men are always under connected or overcorrected to female energy.

They will always feel broken down and “wimpy.” Like Sepia women, they will also have a conflict dealing with feeling stuck in a certain lifestyle or challenge.

Sepia men may have a low sex drive at puberty and have trouble not finding their ideal partner. There may be a specific conflict centered around sexuality.

On a more physical level, they will have prostate problems and undistended testicles.

Acute Illnesses

As long as most of the mind and physical symptoms match in a particular case, Sepia can work for several acute situations such as…

  • Post pregnancy issues, especially post-partum depression. Actually, it’s the #1 remedy for post partum-depression!
  • Endometriosis.
  • Vaginal yeast infections.
  • Herpes on the lips.
  • Acne.
  • Eczema.
  • Dermatitis.
  • Liver issues such as jaundice and liver spots.
  • Menopause.
  • Ptosis.
  • Chloasma or other skin discolorations.
  • Lupus.
  • Lumbar back pain.
  • Morning sickness.

Finding your post interesting is an understatement with how well you loaded in all that information.

I had a for a few years that was using homeopathic remedies and she was excellent at knowing what to take for the different symptoms.

I believe in natural methods, and I do know homeopathic remedies work.

Would you say it’s best to leave it to the professionals or do you think this is something anyone who has the interest in learning could get into and use on their family?

      Hi Travis,

It is always best to see a professional homeopath. But for acute conditions, anyone can theoretically treat themselves or others as long as they understand how each remedy work

Hey ABaradarian, I liked your post on sepia, I didn’t know anything about it until now, but one thing that got me confused. We’re you talking about the lack of sepia or sepia makes people irritable, because I got a sense of both. Anyway, There were very informative and interesting facts about the cuddlefish I didn’t know about. All the best!

I am on my first day of taking Sepia 30c as prescribed by a very knowledgeable natural health practitioner. I have a bad case of fibroids and the mental picture as described above has been me for quite a while. (Interesting that you say we feel stuck, I certainly have been feeling that way.) Can you feel woosh woozy feeling after taking homeopathics or is it just my imagination? I am feeling much better already today after 2 doses. Homeopathics is amazing.

I’m not sure what exactly you mean by “woosh woozy” although I kind of get what you’re asking.
Given that the remedy was properly prescribed by a solid practitioner with proper doses, you may either experience steady healing or a return of past symptoms followed by overall amelioration. Apparently though, you seem to be feeling “much better” which is wonderful and will probably continue that way for now.

      Thanks for reading!
