Carpal tunnel is a disorder that can gradually worsen with time. It can be extremely painful for the hands and the wrists. If you feel like you have the onset of carpal tunnel, there are medical ways to approach this. Options like steroid injections are available. However, if you’d prefer to take a more holistic approach, consider the following options.

Give yourself breaks

One of the toughest parts about having the carpal tunnel disorder is that it has the power to impact your livelihood. Whether you’re a writer, a cook or a teacher, you need your hands in order to do your job. Unfortunately, the pain can be so debilitating that it feels almost impossible to do your job. Whether you use a timer or write it down, give yourself consistent breaks in order to give your hands a chance to recover. During each break, stretch your hands and wrists. Do different exercises to create warmth and movement in your joints.

Use balms, salves and treatments

Don’t underestimate the power of topical treatments. Use salves and balms like a CBD roll-on for pain. You can also use hot and cold treatments in order to experience relief from pain. When you’re sitting down to relax or watch a tv show, gather two different bowls. One bowl needs to have hot water and washcloths in it. Filled the other bowl with ice cubes. Keep a cold compress on ice when you’re wrapping the hot washcloths around your wrists. After a few minutes, switch to the cold compress. Go back and forth for thirty minutes in order to experience some therapeutic relief.

Provide support

A wrist splint is a great way to keep your wrists in a specific position of support. Ths same is true for a wrist brace. Prop your wrists up on cushions when you have to use your wrists for extended time on a device like a keyboard. Watch the way you position your wrists. When they’re elevated, you’ll decrease the likelihood of dangerous issues like fluid retention.

As you work through these options, be mindful of the ones that work better than others. When you’re used to dealing with the pain associated with carpal tunnel, any relief is better than nothing. Don’t be afraid to incorporate other remedies for the pain. It’s also important to be mindful of the ways you can put too much tension on your wrists. If you love lifting weights, wear braces to stabilize your wrists. Don’t lift items that are too heavy. Your wrists will bear the brunt of the pain in the coming days if you’re not careful. It’s not a fun disorder to deal with. However, with these holistic treatments and consistency, you can manage the associated pain and its intensity.
