The main reasons for toothaches are an infection, cavities, an exposed tooth root, gum disease, a cracked tooth, jaw joint disorder, or a loose filling. You can experience a toothache when the central area of the tooth, called the pulp, gets inflamed or irritated. The pulp contains several nerve endings which are very sensitive.

  • Great blog post. I liked how for each home remedy you gave a step by step process of what to do. You didn’t simply just mention chew on garlic, you explain in detail what to do.
You also mentioned a few of the reasons why one may have a toothache and you also mentioned that these rememdies may be just until you can get to a dentist to take care of the reason behind the pain. A lot of sites may mention these types of home remedies and give an impression that nothing over and above there remedies needs to be done. So once their tooth starts to hurt again they get frustrated.

  • There are times when toothaches can become so unbearable. I had no idea there were this many natural and homeopathic remedies to help alleviate the problem. Which one of these would you say is the safest and most effective? What would you do to prevent a toothache in the first place? Obviously good dental and gum care should be a top priority for anyone experiencing toothaches on a daily basis. I know personally, one of my goals in the following year is to floss more. I think taking care of your gums and plaque is one of the most important things you can do for good dental health.

    • Hey Peter,

I think all of these home remedies work equally well. It’s more of a matter of preference, convenience, and cost. By the way, none of these remedies are homeopathic, but I actually prefer homeopathy over these. But any of these remedies can help.

And of course, like you said, taking care of your teeth is most important before any medicine.

      Hope this helps!

  • Among the most effective home remedies for a toothache is garlic. A clove of garlic with a little rock salt should be placed on the affected tooth. It will relieve the pain and, sometimes, may even cure it. A clove should also be chewed daily in the morning. It will cure the teeth making them strong and healthy.
