My blog is a natural health blog that is dedicated to providing its followers with effective, safe, and inexpensive natural remedies as well as research and wellness tips. From time to time however, this blog occasionally posts health warnings that can greatly affect the public. This one regarding the strawberry quick drug is no exception.

I recently received a email from a relative of mine. The email warned of a new recreational drug that kids are starting to use in schools, called strawberry meth.

The Email

Here is the email:

New drug in schools…please pass this on even if you do not have kids in school.
Parents should know about this drug. This is a new drug known as “strawberry quick.” There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that we all need to be aware of. This is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and ‘pops’ in your mouth). It also smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards…
Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the hospital in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange.
Please instruct your children not to accept candy from strangers and even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may have been given it and believed it is candy) and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately.

Pass this email onto as many people as you can (even if they don’t have kids) so that we can raise awareness and hopefully prevent any tragedies from occurring!!

Please Share To Maximum to create awareness as it is really helpful.

After seeing this, I decided to do some research on the web. The basic idea I found from various news sources and Wikipedia is that the claim is more or less bogus. The scare started in 2007 and continues today.
But it is true however that police have found versions of crystal meth that do look like candy and lollipops.

So, How Should We Approach The Strawberry Quick Drug?

Like all drugs, we need to stay away from them and educate our kids about the consequences of drugs. That’s obvious.

What also needs to be emphasized to our kids is to NEVER accept anything from strangers or have any contact with them.

Drugs are rampant everywhere in schools and other institutions. It’s not something we can ever escape from. We just have to continue to strengthen our resolve in us and in our kids to avoid them.

In short: education and being a role model for your kids and others can make your environment a better place. But there’s no need to freak out at the same time.
