Without homeopathic treatment insomnia would simply ruin our ideals for sleep.

Everyone cherishes sleep. There’s nothing like taking a night’s rest into your soft, fluffy bed after a whole day’s activity. It’s just simply soothing.

Unfortunately, not every one is always able to get a good night’s rest. In fact, the statistics show otherwise….

Scary Sleep Statistics

According to The National Center on Sleep Disorders Research:

  • 35% of American adult are only able to sleep less than 7 hours per night for each 24 hour cycle
  • Sleep and insomnia disorders affect 15-20% of Americans who are more likely to suffer from chronic physical, mental, and emotional disorders
  • Lack of or improper sleep can lead to improper brain function, depression, and cognitionHomeopathic Treatment Insomnia

On The Flip Side….

Proper sleep maintains and boosts brain function, cognition, overall mood, and helps younger children and adults to continue growing healthily. You can read more about the benefits of proper sleep right here.

Realizing the importance of sleep, recent research has begun investing more into sleep health and how it functions and affects us, both positively and negatively.

The general census of most physicians is that a person needs at least 6-8 hours of sleep. Younger children and adults need more sleep whereas older adults and the elderly can suffice with less.

To sleep either less or more than 6-8 hours of sleep is not recommended. For the average person each sleep cycle lasts 8 hours. Getting 6-8 hours will give you the full rest and energy boost you need.

However sleeping less than that is incomplete within that sleep cycle. Sleeping more starts a new cycle which may cause you to be even more tired than before.

For example, if one sleeps 9 hours, it will be as if he slept for 1 hour, since he is 1 hour into his/her new sleep cycle.

Besides sleeping at the right hours, doctors have advised to sleep in fully dark, cool rooms, not to drink coffee or other caffeinated drinks in the late afternoons, and to maintain a regular sleep schedule, among other tips.

But even so, a person still may sometimes not be able to fall asleep so easily.

Even beyond the medical parameters, sleep can affect a person’s spirituality.

Indeed, in many religious circles and writings, such as Kabbalah, sleep can additionally give one major spiritual rejuvenation in order elevate the world around us.

This infographic really lays out the benefits of sleep and why proper sleep is crucial for our health:

When it comes to having a  lack of sleep which results in extreme tiredness, Cocculus can restore energy quickly.

Homeopathic Treatment Insomnia

Exhaustion from worrying or taking care of others may indicate the need for Cocculus

This lack of sleep is usually a result of restlessness,  having anxiety for others, and/or from taking care of others and being concerned about them.

Usually, the restlessness may stem from having anxiety for others and worrying about their welfare.

Similarly, people who are physically exhausted from caring for the sick should take this remedy.

Cocculus is also great for those traveling and experience jet-lag or other forms of travel sickness.

Coffea Cruda

There’s nothing like having a nice, hot cup of coffee in the morning to wake you up and to start off the day. Now imagine if I told you coffee can help you sleep…..whoa!

Homeopathic Treatment Insomnia

Are you ready to sleep with some coffee?

Well, homeopathic coffee can really help! Known in homeopathy as Coffea cruda, it is by far one of the best remedies for acute insomnia and sleeplessness.

This is especially true if one feels alert and wide awake during the night. That’s when this remedy comes in handy.

As a matter of fact I have prescribed Coffea cruda to two different people recently who were having acute insomnia every night.

After just 1-2 doses, both men told me they had the best sleep that they ever had in a very very long time.

Both were taking medications for years and nothing helped. One little homeopathic sugar pellet was enough to get the job done.

Contrary to your thoughts right now, homeopathic opium actually does not have any physical trace of opium left.

Rather, it just contains the essence and energy of opium, as investigated in Homeopathic Treatment Insomniahomeopathic provings [experimentation].

Unlike the other two remedies listed, opium is a sleep remedy for those who have more of a chronic sleepiness.

They’re the type that are “always out of it.” They tend to space out and act sleepily.

Opium is able to fully revive this “sleepy” personality.

Opium can also be used for head injuries that result in sleepy side effects, as well as from comas, seizures, and other critical acute situations.

A CM potency is recommended in these situations since these cases could be life-threatening.

Ironically, opium can help treat chronic drug users with a slow-minded mentality. A 6c or 9c potency is suggested for these cases.

Lastly, for breathing issues and bowel movement issues, especially in children, consider opium.

  • In highscool I participated in three science fairs in which I explored the topic of sleep deprivation. I am fascinated with sleep deprivation, and when I way younger I had insomnia that was brought on by extensive watching of horror movies. I was way too young to understand what was going on and when i did understand I could sleep and when I could my sleep was littered with nightmares.I had never heard of homeopathic remedies before this site and I wish my parents had access to this information when I was growing up. Thanks for the information. I will gladly recommend this site to anyone I know with sleeping problems

  • I have been toying with the idea of taking a homeopathy course for years and you have renewed my old interests in the subject.

I keep hearing on the news about how the amount of opiate abusers is way way up and I am starting to see it effect many of the people in my personal life. so when you made mention of Opium being of use to help with drug abusers who have become slow minded I definitely had my interest piqued. I wonder if these same remedies would work for someone who is having trouble sleeping because of withdrawal symptoms?

    • Yes for sure! Which is why I listed Opium in the first place as a great acute insomnia remedy. And in general, the drug remedies such as Opium, Nux Vomica, Cannabis Indica, LSD, and others are tremendous remedies for people with drug habits, addictions, and/or history.

And as for homeopathy courses, I do highly recommend the Resonance School of Homeopathy, run by Robert Field. It’s an amazing school, you’ll get the most of it more than others, and you can do it totally online. I am currently in his school and it’s awesome!!

  • I found this article very interesting, as I suffer from insomnia. I have for years, actually. Part of the problem is that I’m a night owl, I love staying awake all night and it messes up my sleep patterns. Also, when I actually WANT to sleep, I can never seem to do it. Very frustrating. Sometimes when I take sleeping aids, I’m so wide awake that I just get through it and it wears off.
Thank you for this post, I will definitely be trying out some of these methods.

    • No problem! As a suggestion based on what you’ve just told me, Coffea cruda 30c should do the trick. Since this post, I gave this remedy to my grandmother who also had insomnia for a while and now she’s able to sleep much longer than before.

May you have a complete healing!

  • Thank you for a great post. I learned something new! As a mom with 2 young children I don’t usually get enough sleep. On the odd occasion I get to sleep later on a weekend I feel terrible when I wake up. I didn’t know that if you sleep for 9 hours it is like sleeping for 1 hour because of the new sleep cycle. That would explain why I feel terrible when I manage to “catch up” on my sleep.
Cocculus sounds interesting, what exactly is it?

    • Hey Lynne,

Cocculus is known as Indian Cockle, which is derived from a poisonous plant that can cause paralysis. Besides for it’s Homeopathic usage, it has been used as herbal remedy and for other means since the Middle Ages by Arab doctors.

Note that Homeopathic Cocculus contains 0 trace of the original Indian Cockle, just the essence or energy of it. See my post Succussion in Homeopathy for more details.

As for the sleep cycle, I have actually tried it myself and in general I’ve noticed having more sleep when sleeping before midnight and for 6-8 hours. Even sleeping for more than 8 aggravated me.

It’s also very interesting because just like you, I also have friends who have complained to me that even when sleeping for more than 8 hrs, they feel way more tired and unrefreshed.

      Hope this helps!

  • Hi there Ariel,

I struggled with sleeping for a long time. In college, I was sleep deprived because there were party noises around me. Now with work stress, I can’t sleep properly at night and often wake up feeling tired than I was the night before.

The one thing that have helped me so far is sleeping ear plugs. They really calm me down and are capable of blocking out all the unwanted noise. But I also read that wearing them for long term is not good for the ear’s health.

I love coffee, but unfortunately, it keeps me awake most the time. How is Coffea Cruda different from other coffees that we drink? What is unique about the ingredient? It would be great to know.

    • Hey Catherine,

What makes Coffea Cruda effective in aiding acute insomnia is not the fact that it contains physical ingredients. As a matter of fact, all homeopathic remedies are so diluted to the point that nothing physical is left remaining of the actual substance.

Rather, it is the energy of homeopathic coffee that acts as the “switch” to activate our mind [and thus body’s] defense against insomnia. As with all remedies, Coffea Cruda inspires out mind and body to heal itself on all levels-mental, emotional, and physical. To understand this concept better, Succussion in Homeopathy.

Based on your story however, it sounds though that your insomnia is more chronic in nature, and not just an acute situation. My advice would be to seek the help of a professional homeopath who can help you heal in the most effective way possible.

  • I have been searching and searching for natural remedies for insomnia. I feel like I have tried just about everything.

I am currently taking 1-2 prescription sleeping pills a night as all of the natural remedies I have tried don’t really seem to work.

My issues isn’t falling asleep, it is staying asleep. I usually wake up after 2-4 hours of sleep and then I cannot get back to sleep.

I read some reviews on the coffee product you recommended but it seems to work for those who have trouble falling asleep. Do you think this could still help me?

    • Hi Simone,

I actually have aided several people with the type of semi-insomnia you had, whom after trying everything came to me as a last resort. I advised them to take Coffea cruda 30c literally the second before sleeping. Thank G-d, it added more consistent hours to their sleep.

So in short, this remedy can help. As long as you place the pellet below your tongue, let it dissolve, and refrain from eating or drinking for about 30 minutes, and you do this right before sleeping, you should be able to sleep longer.

I would recommend to follow this procedure for about a week straight, unless your sleep exponentially improves earlier.

If for whatever reason, your insomnia is not taken care of, try a 200c dosage of Coffea cruda.

If that does not work, then your best bet is to see a homeopath, who can help you with insomnia and your other issues and core issues.

If you do desire to try the Coffea cruda 30c, I encourage you to purchase a pack of 5 here, so that you can have it on you for a longer period of time. If you’d rather go with a single vial instead of a pack, you can also purchase it from that same link.

If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to respond or email at ariel@naturalholistichomeopathic.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. May have a great night’s sleep soon

  • Well, after another night of waking after only 3 hours of sleep (despite taking 2 prescription sleeping pills) I think I will give coffee cruda a try.

Do you think this could work if I take one as soon as I wake up if I wake up after only a few hours of sleep?

Also, is it ok to take it with one of my prescription sleeping pills or would you recommend I only take the coffee cruda?

Thanks for trying to help me out!

    • Anytime!

Even if you wake up again after taking the remedy right before sleep, it should still be able to help if you also take it if you happen to wake up in the middle of your sleep. Each time you take a remedy (given it’s the right one for you) the remedy helps to strengthen your body’s energy, which in turn, strengthens your body.

You can always take any homeopathic remedy with any prescription drugs you are taking. In most cases it does not counteract. DO NOT stop taking any prescriptions unless recommended by your doctor. Click here to read more about what can antidote a remedy’s effect.

On that note, I do recommend taking your drug first and then taking the remedy last. I’ve seen that in any case, the closer to sleep this remedy is taken, the better.

I pray that you should have a speedy recovery, and again, I’m still here to help if you need anything!
