The Best Homeopathic Remedy Guide: Morrison’s Desktop Companion
Finding the best homeopathic remedy guide can be tough, especially since there are so many out there to choose from. This happens to be one of my favorites, and in this post, I’ll explain to you why:
Product: Desktop Companion to Physical Pathology.
Cheapest Place To Buy: Amazon
Personal Experience: See below. This is a book I love and use all the time.
My Rating: 9.8/10.
Another Great Work By Morrison
Dr. Roger Morrison has written a number of great homeopathic books, such as his excellent materia
medica that covers the personalities and symptoms of numerous homeopathic remedies.
But this one is really unbelievable and in a league of its own.
Unlike his materia medica, Morrison’s Desktop Companion to Physical Pathology is used to offer guidance on how to heal in various acute situations as well as a guide to differentiate different homeopathic remedies for both acute and even chronic cases.
There are several features Dr. Morrison provides that make this clinical book a MUST buy for both practitioner and laymen:
- Homeopathy’s capability of dealing with the condition.
- Therapeutic Tips.
- Repertory Rubrics.
- Remedies List.
Each of these features will be explained in greater detail in this post.
Within these parts, there are different sections dealing with different conditions of those parts of the body. For example, the skin section will have separate sections for each skin condition such as eczema, cellulitis, and warts.
At the beginning of every section in the book, Dr. Morrison describes homeopathy’s capability in dealing with the respective condition. He writes about homeopathy’s effectiveness in each section and how to use homeopathy properly for each situation.
He also draws upon his own experience in shedding light on how homeopathy deals with these cases.
In addition, he will also honestly discuss homeopathy’s limits in certain cases.
Another major aspect of Morrison’s book is the fact that it includes practical tips for treating each
condition with the best of medicine, including homeopathy, naturopathy, and conventional medicine.
As someone who himself is both a homeopath and medical doctor, Morrison shares his extensive knowledge of which medicines, doses, and methods should or should not be used for treating a specific ailment.
He shares with you how to properly use each type of medicine for each type of situation in a short and concise manner. That way, if an ailment urgently needs to be healed, you can know exactly what to do on the spot.
In addition, he also shares with you what medicines work well together or should not be used together, in order to insure efficient healing.
By reading this, you can literally feel like you’re at a practitioner’s office without ever leaving your home or spending the money to do so!

If you are not a homeopath, then you should skip this section, as it’s only applicable for homeopaths in clinical practice.
This 3rd section of Morrison’s book is really a big helper for homeopaths looking for specific rubrics for treating acute and even chronic conditions.
For each ailment in this book, he gives you ALL of the rubrics that will come up for it. That way, not only will it make it easier for you to repertorize, but you can even learn more rubrics that you never knew before. It makes the entire repertorization process much simpler and quicker.
Speaking of learning, this is also ideal for students of homeopathy.
Having all of the rubrics laid out can help the student become more familiar with the repertory. It can guide students in knowing where exactly to hunt for the most accurate rubrics.
This is the section where all the fun really starts.
Here, Morrison shows you each remedy that can be useful for the indicative ailment. He explains the key aspects of the remedy that are good for certain ailments, as well as the unique differences and considerations for each remedy.
For example, click on the sample pages below for burns:
Notice how Morrison lists the unique symptoms that each remedy is good for in burns. He also shows how each remedy is different and similar in treating burns.
Morrison also organizes the remedies based on importance and specialties. For example, he will separate remedies that are the “Main Remedies for (condition name)” and “Other Important Remedies for (condition name).”
For some conditions like migraines, he organizes the remedies based on which side of the body part the remedies are good for, as well as the type of pain or discomfort.
As amazing as this homeopathic book is, it also comes with some faults that should be recognized. This is from my own experience using this book both clinically and domestically, as I will explain in the next section.
Considering that it’s a useful book to have on all time for acute situations, the book is fairly heavy to bring around. Unless you plan to just use it while at your home or office, it’s not an easy book to carry around.
Of course, it’s not a massive book like Webster’s Dictionary. But it’s heavy and big enough to be somewhat difficult to bring on the go.
Another downside to this book, is the fact that it doesn’t include more mental and emotional acute ailments. Although it contains an extensive load of physical acute ailments, I wish it contained more mental and emotional acute ailments, such as for acute depression and grief.
The book does include some mental conditions such as Parkinson’s and other more neurological issues, but as a student-homeopath, I personally feel that it would’ve been great to add more therapeutics in those areas.
My Own Personal Experience
As someone who studies homeopathy, interns with a professional homeopath, and uses homeopathy for family and close friends, I absolutely LOVE this book.
I simply can’t imagine myself not using this book in the future for clinical and personal care.
For practically all client cases, I almost always use this book as a guide in finding the right homeopathic remedy.
In my clinical supervision practice, this book has helped me numerous times in rebalancing clients’ deep, chronic issues, such as cellulitis, eczema, and much more.
As a student, I also found this book to be insanely useful in learning about remedies, whether homeopathic, naturopathic, and allopathic. Without this book, I believe that learning about homeopathy (both for students and laymen) would be much more difficult.
Even my mentors at my homeopathy school highly recommend this book to all students.
My Verdict: This is the Ultimate Homeopathic Remedy Guide EVER!
Whether you’re a health-conscious individual or a striving homeopath, Morrison’s Desktop Companion is a must have for every home and practice.
It is by far one of the easiest, concise, and practical homeopathic books you will ever find. The book will guide you step by step in finding the proper treatment for any acute condition.
