Treating the Person as a Whole

What is Homeopathy?

BACKGROUND

Homeopathy is probably one of the most misunderstood methods of medicine. Many people, including both die-heart supporters and fierce opponents of Homeopathy, have made totally incorrect claims about this unique system of healing. I have heard totally inaccurate descriptions coming from both of these sides.

It is NOT…

  • a drug
  • herbal remedies
  • Chinese medicine
  • allopathic
  • primarily focusing on physical symptoms
  • a “quick fix” [though it can be possible in certain cases]

Homeopathy is very much in a league of its own. It is an holistic, energy-based medicine that aims to inspire oneself to heal on every level-psychologically, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Healing a patient as a whole entity, it works on the principle of the “Law of Similars” in which a person’s symptoms are treated by a homeopathic remedy which contains exact or similar symptoms, similar [yet also radically different] to vaccines. This is exemplified by the word “homeopathy” itself in Latin:

homeo = similar

pathy = suffering

DaVinciMan

Homeopathy aims to treat a person as a whole, unlike conventional medicine which focuses solely to simply suppress the disease of a person

In a nut shell, Homeopathic remedies are derived from various substances such as plants, herbs, minerals, and even animals. Through a series complex and long processes, known as potentization and succussion, the energetic properties of a specific type of substance are extracted and manifested into a sugar-pellet with its own potency.

So while the remedy itself barely contains anything left of the original physicality  of the substance, it still retains the substance’s energy and essence, which is the main component in the Homeopathic remedy used to find the right remedy for the patient and the totality of his/her symptoms.

Contrary to deceptive and bias claims of skeptics, this form of Homeopathic nano-pharmacology has been proven to work, and has shown evidence of energetic particles at work by homeopaths, conventional medical doctors, and researchers.

Because the makeup of each and every Homeopathic remedy essentially consists of its own respective energy, this makes Homeopathy VERY individualized, unlike the vast majorities of conventional and even alternative medicines out there.

Each person being treated homeopathically, based on their own unique symptoms, will require a remedy best suited for them. So, for example, even if 10 people are having severe grief issues, those same 10 people will most likely receive their own remedy suited best for them and their individual symptoms.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Centuries before modern Homeopathy even existed, medical methods using somewhat similar Homeopathic approaches were being commonly employed by the physicians of those times. As early as 3500 years ago in India, a practice known as visa chikitsa was used to treat different types of poisonous animal bites using similar poisonous venoms. During Biblical and Talmudic times [appx 2000-3500 years ago] other similar methods based on the “Law of Similars” were utilized [See Exodus 15:23-25; Talmud Tractate Yoma 83a]

The Homeopathy that we know of today was developed and founded approximately 200 years ago by the renowned Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, an extremely prominent German physician of his time. Upset with the often barbaric and even hazardous conventional, allopathic medicine of his era, he discovered Homeopathy while translating a medical book describing the Law of Similars.

He thereafter tested this theory by taking doses of Cinchona [Peruvian Bark], which produced symptoms of malaria. He then used the same Cinchona to heal himself. Noting the symptoms he produced, he conducted numerous experiments based on the Law of Similars, and with numerous patients.

He noted the effectiveness of these Homeopathic treatments as well as the fact that each patient required his/her own specific remedy to heal oneself, and that the main causes of illness stemmed from a person’s derangement in their vital force, the spirit-like energy that animates all living things, basically a person’s soul.

In other words, Hahnemann contended that the main underlying causes of a person’s illnesses were psychological/mental/emotional in nature; these causes are what manifest into physical illnesses and they manifest differently for each individual.

Furthermore, he noticed that rather than using large doses to ensure wellness, he saw that remedies used in lower doses, or potencies, effected greater, gentler results and resonated better with patients and their holistic healing process. Hahnemann wrote down the foundations, science, and philosophy of Homeopathy as well as his criticism of allopathic medicine in the Organon, the “Bible” of Homeopathy till this very day.

Since Hahnemann’s time, Homeopathy and its usage has spread from his native Germany throughout the world. Despite envious opposition and propaganda by opponents, which was able to endanger the extinction of Homeopathy in the USA between the 20s and 70s, it has nonetheless gained support and popularity among many prominent medical doctors and laymen, both of past and present.

Many, if not all, of the unbiased research and clinical testing on Homeopathy has proven its effectiveness and safeness, as well as the truth of its principles.

From India, where Homeopathy has gone 100% mainstream, to the United States, where it is quickly becoming more mainstream than before, and everywhere in-between, Homeopathy is today one of the most sought after medicines [compared to both conventional and “alternative”] in the world, as it is currently being used by millions of people around the world, continuing its mission of providing holistic, energetic, and safe healing to all those who need it.

      Hey Simon,

      Yes, homeopathy for sure can help with stress. As far as an acute remedy goes, Aconite is good for post-traumatic stress. G-d willing, I plan to publish posts on stress and I will try to let you know. But I highly doubt that you have post traumatic stress. I recommend that you meet with a local homeopath who can help you not only with your stress, but with YOU as a whole-spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. As I wrote in the article, homeopathy does not just treat the disease, it helps treat the person entirely at the core. If you live in the NYC area or in Nevada, I could recommend three great homeopaths to you that I know of.

        Instead of a naturopath, I would suggest to seek help from either a homeopath or acupuncturist. It will allow healing from the inside out. Tell me where you live, and I can perhaps help you find a solid professional for you.
